A mediados de los años 80, como todos los adolescentes de mi época, el orden de prioridades era muy simple: las chicas, las motos, la música…
Yo soy de esa generación que creció en el patio, que ahorraba para comprar cintas de cromo que al parecer daban mejor calidad de sonido, y que por supuesto, forraba las carpetas del instituto con fotos de chicas.
En aquella época, la gente de mi edad estaba bastante quedada con Kim Basinger, Brooke Shields, Bo Derek, Kelly Le Brock… Las supermodelos eran anónimas.
Piratear cintas era todo un arte. Y ni de lejos, estaba perseguido por la ley. Es más, nos conformábamos con grabar directamente de la radio agradeciendo cuando el locutor se quedaba callado. Nos gustaban los Cure, los Smiths, AC/DC… y en España Los Nikis, Los Ilegales, Radio Futura, Siniestro total… y los escuchábamos en los walkman de Sony.
Nuestro ocio televisivo se limitaba a un par de cadenas de televisión. “Corrupción en Miami” -por los Ferraris que aparecían-, y Dallas. Los peliculones de culto de la época fueron Top Gun, en la cual Tom Cruise aceleraba a fondo una Kawasaki GPZ 900, y “Regreso al futuro”, con el inolvidable DeLorean.
Yo soñaba con dos cosas: que mis padres me mandaran a estudiar un año a estados Unidos y con tener en el garaje una Honda MBX blanca…
Un poco de historia…
En los primeros días del mes de Septiembre de 1983, se anuncia la llegada inminente de la Honda MBX 75 Hurricane.
El nombre de “Hurricane”, se obtuvo a través de un concurso en la revista Motociclismo, lo que contribuyó a crear expectación entre el mundillo motero de la época.
Nada menos que Freddie Spencer, el campeón del mundo de 500 cc, se encargaba de anunciarla. De hecho, hay una historia detrás de esto. Y es que dicen que fue el propio Spencer quien sugirió a Honda hacer una réplica de su moto para los chavales de 16 años, algo a lo que los japoneses en principio se negaron por el elevado coste que supondría para los posibles compradores.
Pero Freddie no se equivocaba y Honda hizo la Hurricane que, a pesar de su elevado precio para la época, casi un cuarto de millón de las antiguas pesetas, en España se vendió hasta la última unidad salida de la factoría de Montesa-Honda en Esplugues de Llobregat… Sigue leyendo →
Este domingo nos reuníamos en el Puerto de la Cruz Verde (Madrid), un nutrido grupo de los amigos de las motos de 2T de los 80 y 90´s.
Cómo no, el Club Honda MBX no podía faltar a esta cita, y acudimos con nuestras MBX, NSR, TZR y hasta una Suzuki RGV 250 que trajo nuestro amigo Darío.
Junto a nuestras máquinas, pudimos disfrutar de unas preciosas Aprilias 125, Nsr 125, Gileras, RD 350, etc… de otro club de la zona.
Había mucha expectación entre los moteros “modernos”, y es que aunque suene a tópico, estas motos tienen un algo que atrae las miradas y siempre hay un corrillo alrededor de ellas.
Destacar el buen hacer de nuestro amigo Toño, organizando una zona reservada para el club en el mítico restaurante de La Cruz Verde, donde no faltó comida ni bebida.
Ante el cierre inminente, que nuestros queridos dirigentes van a imponer en grandes ciudades como Madrid para los vehículos clásicos, decidimos hacer una salida por calles emblemáticas de la capital como el Paseo de La Castellana, Calle Alcalá, Velázquez, etc…
Volver a circular con nuestras míticas motos de 2T por estas calles, como hacíamos hace 30 años, no tiene precio…

Da gusto juntarse con gente que comparte tus mismas aficiones, algunos amigos ya de hace varios años, otros gente nueva que se va uniendo al grupo…. el caso es juntarse de vez en cuando y echar unas risas alrededor de nuestras MBX.
Hoy organizaba Toño una quedada en el templo de la moto de Madrid, La Cruz Verde. Espacio reservado para nuestras hurris, mesa reservada para nosotros y comida organizada con menú especial.
En fin, un placer poder compartir y mantener viva la llama de las motos ochenteras de dos tiempos y en especial de las Honda MBX!!

La afición no falló a Ángel Nieto en su último adiós, miles de moteros venidos de muchos puntos de la geografía española acudieron al evento, y entre ellos, como no podía ser de otra manera, varios miembros de nuestro club: Honda MBX
Para el Maestro, la nuestra era la mejor afición del mundo y quedó demostrado tras el multitudinario homenaje celebrado en Madrid. Esto sin duda, está al alcance de muy pocos.
Llenazo espectacular en la explanada del Santiago Bernabéu y en la pelouse del Jarama, puntos de salida y llegada de una caravana que congregó más de 30.000 motos. La comitiva fue descomunal, una pasada. Se veían motos hasta donde alcanzaba la vista y hordas de espectadores poblaban el lateral de La Castellana, grabando con sus móviles, sacando fotos y aplaudiéndonos. Más adelante, sobre los puentes de la carretera de Burgos, camino del Circuito del Jarama la gente se apelotonaba para ver pasar las motos como si de un espectáculo único se tratase. Y no era para menos.

Quedada MBX Toledo (16 Octubre 2016)
Mucho tiempo llevaban nuestros amigos de Toledo, Ramón y Pedro, queriendo organizar algo por su tierra. Y razón no les faltaba a tenor de lo visto este domingo.
Preciosa ruta por carreteras de montaña, con buenas curvas y preciosas vistas. Con las MBX´s jugando entre las sinuosas carreteras, siempre atentos a los cambios de marcha para que no “murieran” en los repechos, creo que dentro del casco todos llevábamos una sonrisa de oreja a oreja…
Además, la organización tenía todo previsto, con un aperitivo a media mañana compuesto por carne de venado, tortilla de patatas, embutidos…., ideal para descansar un rato y comentar lo que llevábamos de ruta.
El único punto negro fue un par de averías mecánicas (que todos los problemas sean de mecánica), que impidieron a algunos compañeros terminar la ruta.
Como colofón, comida en un restaurante de la zona de muy buena calidad y buen precio. Lo dicho, un diez para Ramón y Pedro por la ruta y por la elección de los restaurantes!
Nos despedimos ya entrada la tarde, tras una ruta de más de 150 km por el Parque de Cabañeros y la provincia de Toledo, aunque algunos más osados como Ramón del Escorial, hicieron bastantes más kilómetros (en su caso 350 km!!)
Ahora toca repasar las mecánicas y esperar que la próxima quedada no sea dentro de mucho…

Con motivo de la XIII concentración nacional de motos clásicas que se celebró en Barajas (Madrid), una parte del club MBX acudió a la cita.
Una pena las bajas de algunos de nosotros por diversos motivos. A ver si para la próxima cita, que se está preparando en Toledo, podemos acudir más motos.
También cabe destacar la presencia de un nuevo fichaje con una NSR 75. Si tienes una 2T de la época (MBX, NSR, TZR….) y quieres unirte a nuestro grupo, eres bienvenid@.
Con motivo de la XIII concentración nacional de motos clásicas que se celebrará en Barajas (Madrid), nos juntaremos todos los que podamos del Club MBX .
